Formulations & biologicals exports grew 15.8 per cent in July

Exports of drug formulations and biologicals have gone up 15.85% during the month of July, 2025, while the cumulative growth of finished formulations and biologicals exports was at 7.66% for the first four months of the current fiscal year.
The export of formulations and biologicals during the month of July was at $2.12 billion, as compared to $1.83 billion during the same month of previous fiscal year. For the previous month of June, 2025, the export was a 6.12% growth at $2.08 billion, as compared to $1.96 billion in the same month of last year, according to data from the ministry of commerce and industry.
In Rupee terms, the growth was 19.1% during the month, at Rs. 18,265.7 crore, as compared to Rs. 15,334.7 crore during the same month last year. The growth during June, 2025 was 9.3% at Rs. 17,880 crore as compared to Rs. 16,356 crore in the same month of last year.
In terms of quantity, the month of July, 2025 reported a growth of 27.6% at 82,512 MT, as compared to 64,672 MT during July, 2024. It may be noted that the exports in terms of quantity during June, 2025 was a decline of 1.86% at 64,002 MT as compared to 65,217.6 MT during the month of June, 2024.
Cumulatively, the exports of drug formulations and biologicals has grown 7.66% to $8.15 billion during the four months from April to July, 2025, as compared to $7.57 billion in the same period of previous fiscal year.
In Rupee terms, the growth was 10.5% at Rs. 69,837.6 crore, during the months from April to July, 2025, as compared to Rs. 63,170 crore registered in the same period of previous fiscal year.
In terms of quantity, the growth was 9.22% to 2,69,151.9 MT as compared to 2,46,417.4 MT during the same four months of FY25, according to the Ministry.
As reported earlier, the exports of overall drugs and pharmaceuticals from the country registered around 14% growth in the month of July, while the cumulative growth for the first four months was reported at 7.4%.
The exports for the month of July stood at around $2.66 billion as against around $2.33 billion reported during the corresponding month of previous fiscal year, according to data from the ministry of commerce and industry.
The growth during the month was over two fold compared to the 6% increase reported in June, 2025.
In Rupee terms, the exports growth was 17.49% to Rs. 22,925.75 crore during July, 2025, as compared to Rs. 19,512.18 crore during the same month of previous year.
In the first four months of the fiscal year 2025-26, the exports grew to $10.25 billion, as compared to $9.54 billion in the same period of previous fiscal year. In Rupee terms, there is a growth of 10.3% to Rs. 87,810.41 crore, as compared to Rs. 79,601.57 crore in the corresponding period of 2024-25.
The exports during the first quarter of FY26, from April to June, 2025, was at 5.2% at $7.58 billion, as against $7.2 billion in the same period of previous fiscal year.
