NABL rolls out awareness programmes to implement NABL accreditation system in Ayush testing laboratories

The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) has rolled out a series of awareness programmes to implement the NABL accreditation system in Ayush testing laboratories. It recently hosted a programme in Mumbai in collaboration with Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Union Ministry of Ayush.
This workshop was organized for the medical as well as non-medical scientists from CCRUM, Ministry of Ayush. During this workshop, NABL stressed on the necessity for precise testing of Ayush products including Unani Medicines and the need for NABL accreditation as a measure of accuracy, integrity and trust. A detailed description about the benefits of implementing the NABL accreditation system in Ayush testing laboratories was given to the participants of the programme. NABL accreditation, accreditation process, NABL documents and how to apply online through NABL web portal was also explained in detail.
A detailed overview of standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017 by Dr. Pankaj Goyal, deputy director, and ISO 15189 by Ritu Kulshrestha, joint director, NABL was given to the participants which brought further clarity in the minds of the participants about the accreditation process and requirements. In the program, a session was also chaired by Ritu Kulshrestha where focus was given on the management and technical requirements of ISO 15189.
This was followed by an awareness program on ISO 15189:2022 at Kolkata themed 'Medical Laboratories-Requirements of quality and competence' in association with Calcutta Association of Practicing Pathologists (CAPP). There were 52 participants from various laboratories who attended the programme.
An awareness programme on Quality Practices and Accreditation of Medical Laboratories as per ISO 15189 was also held at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Hyderabad. The programme aimed to raise awareness about quality practices and accreditation of medical laboratories as per ISO 15189 in Tier II and tier III cities of our county.
