Kozhikodu branch of Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala to organise 3-day special programmes from Nov 18 to mark 100th anniversary

As part of its100th anniversary celebrations, the Kozhikodu branch of
the Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala (KAVS) in Kerala will organise several
events including a day-long ayurvedic seminar. Kozhikodu branch of the
Arya Vaidya Sala is the first branch started by KAVS outside of
Kottakkal and it was in the year 1916. To mark the end of the
one-year centennial celebrations, three days of special programmes are
arranged on November 18, 19 and 20 at Kozhikodu in northern Kerala. On
November 18, Governor of Kerala, Justice P. Sadasivam will inaugurate
the function at 4 PM, afterwards he will open the new building
constructed as part of the centenary of the Kozhikodu clinic. Kozhikodu
Corporation Mayor Thottathil Raveendran; Member of Rajya Sabha, M.P
Veerendra Kumar; Members of Kerala legislative assembly A. Pradeep Kumar
and Dr. M.K. Muneer, and Dr. PM. Warrier of KAVS will speak on the
occasion. On November 19, two sessions of cultural meetings will
be held. In the forenoon session the famous Malayalam litterateur M.
Mukundan will preside over and the well-known film maker Adoor
Gopalakrishnan will deliver the inaugural lecture. Renowned film
actor Madhu will be the chief guest. Writers Sara Joseph, K.C.
Narayanan, Prof. M.N.Karasserry and Dr. Ganga R Warrier will speak. At 4
PM, Dr. P Balachandran, chief medical officer of KAVS will deliver the
centenary speech. Dr. KK. Paulose will preside over the meeting and Dr. K
Muraleedharan will speak on the subject. On November 20, the
53rd Ayurvedic Seminar will commence at 10 AM. The theme of the seminar
is ‘cardiac ailments’ and the subject was selected because of its
topical importance from the point of view of public healthcare
management, said Dr. S.G. Ramesh Warrier, Member, Board of Trustees of
KAVS. Member of Parliament M.K. Raghavan will preside over and Dr. M.S.
Valiathan will inaugurate the first session, 'ayurveda and modern
science’. The valedictory function will be inaugurated by state
transport minister A.K. Saseendran. Members of legislative assembly O.
Rajagopal, VKC Mohammed Koya and E.K. Vijayan, Advocate VM Sureshbabu,
KK Nazar and Padmashri Dr. P.K Krishnakumar will attend the function.
