The Indian Pharmaceutical Market (IPM) has registered a marginal growth of 0.2% for the month of July 2020, slipping lower than the June 2020 which stood at 2.4% due to impact of COVID crisis.

According to AIOCD AWACS report, the IPM has recorded sales of Rs. 1,42,373 crore for moving annual total (MAT) basis during July 2020. Among the top 10 companies, Mankind is growing in double digit (10%+), while Torrent, Intas, Sun Pharma, Zydus Cadila, Ranbaxy, Lupin, Cipla and Alkem is growing at single digit growth. Amongst the top 10 corporates, Mankind exhibited the highest growth of 11.0 per cent, followed by Torrent Pharma at 8.1 per cent.

Amongst the 11to 25 ranked corporates, Aristo exhibited highest growth of 15.1 per cent followed by Pfizer at 10.9 per cent. Amongst the 26 to 50 ranked corporates, Boehringer Ingelheim registered the highest growth 28.3 per cent followed by JB Chemicals at 16.1 per cent and Corona at 13.7 per cent. Amongst the 51 to 75 ranked corporates, Danone registered the highest growth 29.7 per cent and Eli Lilly at 18.2 per cent. Amongst the 76 to 100 ranked corporates, Llyod Hc exhibited the highest growth at 31.6 per cent, followed by Unison at 13.3 per cent.

Some therapies continue the trend of revival in July 2020. Cardiac registered a monthly growth of 13.1% as compared to 13.9% in June’20, while anti-Diabetic registered growth of 5.9% as compared to 8.5% in June '20. Respiratory medicines growth slumped to -2% as compared to 4.2% in June 2020.

Post unlockdown since June 2020, the struggle for anti-infectives of -9.7% in June 20 continues negative trend -10.2% in July 2020 and its associated therapy like gastro exhibits negative growth of -2.4 % as against 0.4% in June 2020. Vitamins have bounced back and have growth of 5.5% in July as against 5.7% June 2020 and pain and analgesics are at -6.7% in July 2020 as against -1.9 % in June 2020.
