Indian pharma companies are looking forward to export medicines to Fiji based on a government tender for medicine supply as per the Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (PIC/S) standard.

Fiji, a country in the South Pacific, is an archipelago of more than 300 islands. India’s export of pharmaceutical products to Fiji was USD 6.05 million during 2022, according to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade.

The PIC/S is a non-binding, informal co-operative arrangement between Regulatory Authorities in the field of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) of medicinal products for human or veterinary use. It is open to any Authority having a comparable GMP inspection system. PIC/S presently comprises 54 Participating Authorities coming from all over the world (Europe, Africa, America, Asia and Australasia).

PIC/S aims at harmonising inspection procedures worldwide by developing common standards in the field of GMP and by providing training opportunities to Inspectors. It also aims at facilitating co-operation and networking between competent authorities, regional and international organisations, thus increasing mutual confidence.

“Interested member companies may take advantage of this opportunity and may directly contact the Fijian importer keeping our High Commission of India, Suva in loop on email id -com.suva@mea.gov.in,” as per a Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) circular.

“Pharmexcil has been facilitating several trade enquiries in close coordination with missions abroad and promoting Indian pharmaceuticals worldwide. Pharmexcil is further in receipt of communication from High Commission of India, Suva, Fiji wherein a Fijian importer by the name Ray Pharmaceuticals has enquired about a medicine supply that would be called for tender in Fiji,” the circular further stated.

Ray Pharmaceuticals operates as a division in the company, located at 8-10 Ravouvou Street, Lautoka. Ray Pharmaceuticals has expanded over the years since its incorporation and is a leading wholesaler and distributor of pharmaceutical products in Fiji.

The Fijian importer can be contacted through Zaheera Cassim, Director- Hyperchem Pharmacies/Ray Pharmaceuticals, Lautoka, Fiji, Email :zaheera@raypharmaceuticals.com.fj, Website:https://raypharmaceuticals.com.fj/

Ray Pharmaceuticals began in 2006 as a community pharmacy in Lautoka trading as Hyperchem Pharmacy, under the leadership of Zaheera Cassim, a registered pharmacist. Following the registration of a second branch in Ba, it gradually expanded as a wholesale business.

In March 2011, Ray Pharmaceuticals was registered for the wholesaling of pharmaceuticals products. In March 2015 the business was converted to a limited liability company, Hyperchem Pharmacy Pte Limited T/A Ray Pharmaceuticals.

Hyperchem Pharmacy Limited is a family owned company. The principal activity of the company is the importation, wholesale and retail of pharmaceutical, consumer and personal care products.
