Union Minister for Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal has directed the officials in the Ministry to ensure time-bound infrastructure development of Ayush National Institutes/Central Councils projects.

In a meeting to review the construction projects of the Ayush National Councils and National institutes held under the chairmanship of Sonowal, the minister said that time-bound infra development of National Institutes, Central Councils is a prime focus area, which will enable Ayush to better serve humanity. He gave directions for fast completion of all works for the benefit of the people.

The minister further added that building of Ayush infrastructure should be approached in the same way as Prime Minister's holistic infrastructure development scheme “GatiShakti”. Ayush officials and project management consultants should take serious note of this action philosophy.

The Ministry of Ayush aims to create a world class Ayush infrastructure across the country, which will be pivotal to drive India's Ayush revolution. Almost, 41 Ayush infrastructure projects, which includes new building and up gradation of present National institutes/Central Councils is being planned at an estimated cost of Rs. 1,955.45 crore across the country. 

Ministry of Ayush key Infrastructure projects include establishing satellite institutes of four National Institutes, phase – II campus of All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homeopathy (NEIAH) at Shillong. Other key projects include Ayush wing at All India Institute of Medical Science, National Cancer Institute at Jhajjar, Nisarg Gram at National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune and others.

The prominent project management consultants, who have been engaged for these projects are National Projects Construction Corporation Ltd., WAPCOS Ltd - formerly known as Water and Power Consultancy Services Ltd, NBCC (I) Ltd - formerly known as National Buildings Construction Corporation, Central Public Works Department, MECON - formerly known as Metallurgical and Engineering Consultants Ltd and Public Works Department.

Minister of State for Ayush Dr. Munjapara Mahendrabhai, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush Rajesh Kotecha, Vice Chancellor, Directors and Director Generals of Ayush Institutes/Central Councils along with project management consultant’s representative participated in the meeting.

Last month, the minister inaugurated the Ayush building complex at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai. This complex will house the regional Research Institute of Homoeopathy (RRIH), under Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) and Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM) under Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM).

The Minister also recently said in the Rajya Sabha in the beginning of this month that the Ministry is taking various measures for the development of Ayush entrepreneurship, through a Central Sector Scheme namely Champion Services Sector Scheme for Medical Value Travel for implementation on Pan India basis. Under this scheme, financial assistance in the form of Interest Subsidy is provided to private investors for the establishment of Super Specialty Hospitals/Day Care Centres of the systems recognized under The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) Act, 2020 or The National Commission for Homeopathy (NCH) Act, 2020.

The Ministry of Ayush signed a MoU with the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) for the promotion of Ayush enterprises. In this regard, 10 Awareness programmes on Digital Advertisement, E-Marketing, GST&GeM were organized and 07 National Seminar/Workshop on Packaging, Marketing and Export Promotion of Ayush Products were organized by the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME).

The All India Institute of Ayurveda(AIIA) , an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush has set up an incubation centre - AIIA-ICAINE (Incubation Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship) - to support new startups in the Ayush sector.

Also,Academia-industry Research Incubation for Value-chain Up-gradation(ARIVU) has been set up by Central Council of Research in Siddha (CCRS) to promote innovation and entrepreneurship by translating novel ideas and innovation in various disciplines of Siddha Research, into products, processes and services for commercial exploitation and the benefit of society.
 
Ministry of Ayush has also collaborated with scientific Organisations like Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and with different Indian Institute of Technology’s (IITs) to promote research, innovation, management and higher education etc.
