Exports of Ayush and herbal products have reported a decline of 3.3% during the first half of the fiscal year 2025-26, compared to the same period of previous fiscal year. Exports during the quarter of July to September, 2025 registered a decline of 7.2%, while for the month, the exports declined almost 20.58%, on a year-over-year (YoY) basis.

Exports during the period of April to September, 2025 stood at $334.01 million compared to $345.33 million during the corresponding period of previous fiscal year. Quantity of exports, however, grew 1.13% to 61,879 MT during the period.

During the three months of July to September, exports was $158.28 million, as against $170.53 million during the same period a year ago. Quantity witnessed a marginal decline to 29205 MT compared to 29891.8 MT registered in the same quarter a year ago.

Exports during the month of September, 2025, were at $46.29 million, as compared to $58.29 million in the same month of previous fiscal year. Quantity declined 13.14% to 8530.6 MT, as against 9820.96 MT reported during September, 2024.

In Rupee terms, exports of Ayush and herbal products were almost stagnant at Rs. 2,883.85 crore during the first six months of the fiscal year, compared to Rs. 2,886.55 crore during the same period of last year. Exports during the quarter ended September reported a 3.33% decline at Rs. 1,380.67 crore on a YoY basis as against Rs. 1,428.31 crore last year.

In September, this year, the exports declined 16.30% in Rupee terms, at Rs. 408.86 crore as against Rs. 488.5 crore during the same month of last year.

It may be noted that the same month last year and the six months ended September, 2024 registered a healthy growth of over 20% and 10%, respectively, in US Dollar terms.

Imports of Ayush and herbal products during the month of September reported almost 72% growth at $20.44 million compared to $11.9 million in the same month last year. In terms of quantity, the growth was 48.5% at 9108.76 MT as compared to 6133.97 MT during September, 2024.

As reported earlier, the exports during the first quarter of the current fiscal, ended June 30, 2025 reported a marginal growth of 6% and stood at $175.7 million, as against $174.8 million during the three months from April to June, 2024.

Ayush and herbal products exports reported a growth of 3.6 per cent during the fiscal year 2023-24, at $651.17 million as compared to the same period of previous year. During 2022-23, the exports were $628.54 million. The year 2022-23 registered a growth of 2.68 per cent in exports, from $612.12 million in the previous year.

The Ministry of Ayush has established Ayush Export Promotion Council (Ayushexcil) to promote Ayush products and services globally by the Ministry of Ayush and supported by the Union ministry of commerce. It was officially launched at Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on April 20, 2022, and aimed to oversee exports of products of Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Siddha, Sowa/Rigpa and Unani systems and address trade issues pertaining to these sectors.
